Why Is Diversity Important To Capstone?

The Oxford Dictionary defines diversity as “the practice or quality of including or involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, sexual orientations, etc.” However, for Capstone, diversity is so much more than that.

Diversity means learning from each other and building stronger bonds and deeper connections with our associates and partners. We celebrate both our differences and our similarities, whether they’re visible or not. Embracing this diversity makes us a stronger, more well-rounded organization.

What Is The Diversity Thumb Ball? How Does It Work?

The Diversity Thumb Ball activity brings together associates from different departments into small focus groups. Participants then take turns throwing a ball (or spinning a randomized wheel for remote employees) with questions that spark dialogue and help them learn more about each other.

In these sessions, our associates are challenged to answer sometimes difficult questions about their experiences and perspectives on diversity, equity, and inclusion. This encourages open and honest conversations.

What Are The Objectives Of This Program?

The goal of the Diversity Thumb Ball is to help our employees better understand each other. By learning more about their colleagues’ backgrounds and viewpoints, they can build stronger bonds and work together more effectively to serve our partners.

This includes hosting panels with employees on diversity topics, publi shing a diversity calendar newsletter, and organizing other activities that create a safe and respectful space for all associates.

Through these ongoing efforts, Capstone is building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment where everyone can thrive.
